Training in leading large groups (participatory forums), 2008

Auftrag

Urbaplan wanted, within the framework of establishing various local planning documents, to be able to organise so-called “forums of the future”, with the goal of getting the population to participate in the establishment of these documents. Until this training, Urbaplan had delegated the leadership of forums concerning the master plan of the municipality to other competent people. However, Urbaplan wanted to be able to develop this competence internally through ad hoc one-day training.

KEK Leistungen

Urbaplan mandated A. Boin to organise and lead training in the following areas:

• basis of communication between one person and a group of people;

• basic techniques for organising and leading a participatory forum;

• how to be a good moderator/ leader;

• how to handle conflict in a group, or between a group and the moderator; and

• time management and the use of ICT (information and communication technologies).

Resultate

Urbaplan familiarised itself with the principal tools needed to organise participatory forums.
